What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese practice centered on energy, intention, balance, awareness, and connection. The word Reiki is commonly understood through the ideas of rei, referring to universal or spiritual wisdom, and ki, referring to life energy.
Reiki is traditionally practiced through the hands, with the practitioner focusing intention and awareness while creating a calm space for another person or being.
For us, one of the most meaningful parts of Reiki is connection.
There are few relationships that demonstrate unconditional love as clearly as the relationship people share with animals. They meet us without concern for status, appearance, success, or the things that often separate people from one another. They simply meet us where we are.
Professional groomers work inside that relationship every day.
Grooming is demanding physical work. Groomers spend years standing, lifting, bending, bathing, drying, brushing, and making thousands of precise movements with their hands. Their wrists, shoulders, backs, and bodies can pay a real price for the craft.
Yet the work is ultimately an act of service to an animal that depends upon those hands for care.
The connection is different for hairstylists and barbers, but transformation remains at its center.
Someone can sit in a chair carrying the person they were and stand up seeing something new. Hair professionals participate in moments of confidence, change, identity, transition, and sometimes genuine personal rebirth.

How Reiki Became Reiki Shears
Reiki Shears is where that philosophy meets years of craftsmanship, professional sharpening, shear design, advancing cutting technology, and international manufacturing.
Founder John Pool is a professional sharpener, shear craftsman and Holy Fire® Reiki Level III Master. After years spent servicing professional shears and working directly with the groomers, hairstylists, barbers, and craftspeople who depend upon them, two things became increasingly connected: the importance of the tool and the importance of the person holding it.
Reiki Shears was created around both.
Our philosophy is that a professional shear company should do more than put its name on a tool, decide what constitutes a good deal, collect the money, and move on to the next sale.
The professional deserves more from the company behind the shear.
Years spent sharpening, repairing, evaluating, and developing professional shears created an opportunity to see what happens to these tools after hundreds and thousands of hours of real-world use.
We learned what lasts.
We learned what fails.
We learned which features genuinely improve a shear and which simply make good marketing.
That experience eventually expanded into professional shear engineering, product development, metallurgy, advanced cutting geometry, ergonomics, and relationships with craftspeople and manufacturers around the world.
Today, Reiki Shears brings those resources together to develop professional dog grooming shears, professional hair cutting shears, barber shears, curved grooming shears, chunkers, thinning shears, blending shears, texturizers, left-handed shears, and specialty cutting tools.
We look at the entire tool: steel, heat treatment, hardness, convex edges, blade and tooth geometry, bearings, tension systems, handles, balance, weight, ergonomics, manufacturing precision, finish, serviceability, and ultimately how the shear feels in the hands of the professional using it.
We don't believe quality belongs exclusively to one country, one factory, one steel, or one price point. Years of international manufacturing have taught us to find the right material, the right craftsperson, the right manufacturing process, and the right technology for the tool we're trying to create.
And advancement shouldn't stop when the shear reaches the customer.
We want to listen to the professionals using our tools. We want to understand what works and what doesn't. We want that information to influence the next generation of shears. We want to support the people maintaining those tools and help professionals better understand what they're buying.
That's where the philosophy of Reiki and the philosophy of Reiki Shears become the same thing:
